SCULPTURE 305B (Advanced) Pre-requisite: Sculpture 105B

Creating a dynamic figure sculpture is a challenging and fulfilling project for those of you who already have a
familiarity with the techniques of clay modelling and wish to move to a more
advanced professional level.Beginning with the construction of an appropriate armature,
your outstanding master-level instructor will guide you through all the other
essentials, giving you hands-on demonstrations and utilizing the presence of
live figure models especially trained for sculpture students.
You will gain a practical understanding of artistic anatomy
and will learn all you need to know to fashion an anatomically correct figure
sculpture. During the curing time, you will also take time to carve a soapstone
or plaster sculpture with an emphasis on design and expression through the use
of abstract or non-objective forms.

CULPTURE 105B:

In this entry level course, you will be creating a terracotta bust while studying from a life model. Composition, proportion, and anatomy will be the focus while working with clay. You will also construct a mixed-media sculpture from your imagination. Expression will be key in combining media in thought-provoking ways.
