This course introduces you to knowledge of B&W film, exposure control, processing and photographic printing. You will use the camera as an artistic tool and a means for recording your own unfolding as an artist. Students must own a 35mm SLR camera in working order with a normal 5omm lens, other lenses are optional.

We will cover areas such topics as basic exposure theory, colour temperature of light and lens selection. Several in class shooting assignments will be followed by a complete digital workflow to final finished prints. Post production work will be done in Photoshop and Bridge. Topics covered include: the use of layers, blending modes, colour balance, burning and dodging and digital retouching. Participants should bring their camera, a card reader and the camera manual to class.

Explore five different alternative photographic processes, some are over 150 years old! Turn your photographs into a one of a kind original. Artists, photographers and anyone interested in photo-based mixed media, scrap-booking or art journalling will find this class interesting. This is a "hands on" class not a digital class. No experience necessary.
Offered Fall 2013 November 12 - December 5 (Tues - Wed - Thurs, 9:30am - 1:30pm, 4 weeks)Use digital photography as a creative medium and create a web gallery of your work. This course explores the use and application of Photoshop CS3 and will provide you with basic understanding of exposing and processing captured files suitable for print & web applications. Learn the essential core functions of Photoshop CS3 to make technically proficient, aesthetically pleasing digital files.
