This course presents visual options and exercises designed to help you document your own creative process, stimulate concept development and create visual literacy. Emphasis is placed on innovative ideas and mixed media approaches that inform, interpret, challenge and motivate.
Offered TBA (, Start Time TBA - End Time TBA)Discover the medium of collage and its many approaches in using found materials and photographs. Topics covered include: Uses of colour, surface treatments, incorporation of typographic elements, working with photographs, working with found objects and ephemera. The class will involve demonstrations in a relaxed, fun, creative environment. No experience is required.
Offered TBAThe Altered Image is about experimentation, exploration and creative play using photographic source material as its base and departure point. Integration of both historic photographic processes and traditional approaches to mixed media will be examined. Methods such as image transfer, colouring techniques, acrylic enhancement and collage will be explored.
Offered Spring 2013 May 10 - June 14 (Fridays, 10:00am - 5:00pm)This class will focus on creative exploration, innovative mixed media techniques and approaches using encaustic medium and paints. Topics covered include: encaustic collage, image transfer techniques, using plaster and drywall compounds, using building foam, sprayed stencils and masks, stylus incising and surface treatments. This course will appeal to photographers, painters and mixed media artists interested in discovering the incredible creative potential of this media. No experience with encaustics is necessary just a positive attitude. There will be an initial materials fee of $40. and extra encaustic medium will be available to purchase from the instructor.
