Fine Arts Fundamental Certificate (in Visual Arts) (Previously Fine Arts Diploma Program First Year)
Our regular Diploma program (now entering its 40th year) can be accomplished by a series of certificate stepping stones: 1) FA Fundamental Certificate 2) the Advanced Certificate and 3) the Diploma. Each of these PCTIA accredited programs are 7 months long.A select group of our students choose to continue with the Gallery-Level Post Diploma (Master) year. Much of our curriculum is now offered in a semi-intensive way whereby courses are taken twice a week and completed in six week modules. Not only is this method fruitful in terms of modern learning theory, but it also allows our learners to “drop in” and “drop out” depending on their life circumstances and needs. You get a full term credit for each course you complete in the six-week module.
Tuition cost for the full 7-month FA Certificate Fundamentals is currently $5924 for ten full courses: ( see sample below)
Besides the regular program, we have other approved accredited certificates: “Occupational-Related” 3-month certificates in a variety of career options such as Animation, Graphic Arts, Illustration, Sculpture/Mold-Making, Textiles etc.
All certificates also count towards the final diploma.
You can register with us by phone or in person if you are coming to Victoria.
We would enjoy showing you the school and explaining all the programs to you. You could bring in your artwork portfolio to us at that time. Or, if you prefer, you could send us 5 to 10 scanned images or photos of your “best” work by e-mail. We are more interested in looking at your portfolio to see where your talents lie and to get some understanding of your creative interests. Our experience with students is that motivation to keep working, and the courage to be original, counts more than the “craft” level you may have developed in your work by this time. This is because we know you can learn your craft from our very inspiring teachers who are all professional artists regularly showing their work. Develop a very comprehensive portfolio to showcase your work and launch your career. Since we are fully accredited by PCTIA, our students are able to get government student aid.
First term of the Fine Arts Certificate Fundamentals starts again: September 17, 2012

“Going to the college meant the fulfillment of a dream to me…I’d been to university but didn’t get enough studio time, didn’t learn enough about painting. It was never about a degree or letters after my name, it was about studying with some amazing people, enjoying the atmosphere, and the fantastic teachers at VCA.”
