CLASSICAL ANIMATION 101C Instructor: Georges Daigle In this course, the first of four specialized classes in our animation certificate program, you’ll get started by discovering some of the basic principles of classical animation and cartooning using traditional pen and paper, assisted by Pencil-Check Pro (Toonboom) and Photoshop. After a series of short, fun exercises, you’ll be able to view what you’ve created in our well-equipped animation lab.
Then you can start applying a basic understanding of other computer programs used by industry professionals, to clean up your rough drawings, colour them, and make a small Quicktime movie file. Soon after, you’ll have a basic understanding of animation and will be able to finish a short film with audio that can be seen on YouTube or your own website.
Offered Fall 2012: Term begins September 17
ANIMATION 201c Instructor: Georges Daigle In the second phase of the animation program, you can take a look at how the real animation industry makes a storyboard for a series like The Simpsons. Now comes the time when you can start to create your very own one-minute (or longer) storyboard with characters that you have created and designed. In this exercise the “character walk cycle” is your animation’s main focus.
Making an animated film is a group process, especially when it comes to producing commercials for TV and film ads. You’ll get a taste of real-world production by engaging in a class project.
